Legal Issues with Tile Providers (Google Maps, Bing, ESRI)

Sep 19, 2010 at 2:44 AM

Hi,

The BruTile Library is working perfectly, and now I want to use it in a Application.

I Know that all licences from Google Maps, Bing and ESRI restrict the use of the tiles outside their own MapPrograms in a free way.

I want to know what is the license for using BruTile with these TileProviders?

Thank you

hi Ricardo,

There is no special license for BruTile, this basically means you cannot use those tile services without any special arrangement with those companies. What the options are depends on the provider. For Microsoft Bing you can get a registered account where they track your tile use, in case of ESRI you could deploy your own ArcGIS server.

Hi again...

I want to change the API Key used for Bing MAps or Google Maps.

How can I do that ?

For the BingTileSource you can provide a second argument called 'token'. You can request one here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc980844.

We do not have something like this for Google. This should be added.
